Ascent Trip ReportMet up with friends at Scissor's Crossings bright and early at 5:45 after camping out in Blair Valley. WEre at the TH and hiking by 6:10 am. Followed a more direct, but steeper route than the official HPS routes - started off walking for 1 mile through a dry wash, and then picked the middle ridgeline, just north of peak 4624, joining up with its saddle to Granite, and then picking our way up the ridgeline past several false summits to Granite. LOTS of up up up on this hike - fast pace. Were at the summit in just under 2:30 and back to the cars right around the 5 hour mark - maybe just a bit shorter. Great hike - BE CAREFUL of the spiny cacti and prickly plants - they are everywhere. A bit longer to go back because instead of going over one of the bumps on the way back - we picked our way around the side - probably would have been faster just to go up and over. Otherwise - great hike. FUN group!
