Ascent Trip ReportMike Schwartz' usually able directions got me there with one snafu. His report starts at the intersection of CR7 and Hampshire Grade Rd., but there's more than one CR7. My GPS got me to the intersection anyway, but it confirms my impression that signage in rural W.Va. is often idiosyncratic. In some neighborhoods in my hometown of Pittsburgh signage is also erratic or nonexistent and locals seem to have the attitude that if you don't know where you are going maybe you don't belong there.
A one mile hike gets you to the old beacon tower (on the blue blazed Beacon Trail). An extra hundred yards gets you to the ridge edge and a nice view through the trees.
