Ascent Trip ReportWhat a crappy day for a hike! It was raining, the wind was blowing hard, and it was cold. We gave Lone Peak a shot anyway, but were turned back at Lone Rock, a good 4300 feet and 4+ miles short of our objective As we pathetically huddled for shelter behind rocks just below Lone Rock, we found a rattlesnake also hiding from the weather, curled up right on what would have been a great place to sit. Well, that was it. There was no way we were going to top out on Lone Peak this day, we were getting blown off the ridge, and soaked. We tucked our collective tails between our legs and headed back to the cars on Corner Canyon Road. Good thing for 4wd to get us back to Sandy. Lone Peak would have to wait another 2 years before some of us returned to summit.
