Ascent Trip Report

We got a late start and tried to make the summit but got turned back by rain/hail. My dad and I did get far enough to lay eyes on the summit and made the decision to turn back based on: the weather we saw on the peak, the weather moving in from the south and the fact our clothes and boots were soaked (the others made the decision to turn around around 12000' when the weather first began to roll in). The trail, until that point, had been a mix of very flat trail to fairly steep trail (but still a walk-up). At 12000' the trail leveled out again for a short time before begining the final push to the summit. We did get to see the aspen beginning to change (still a week or two before the full effect) and a lot of wildlife (peregrin falcon, snowshoe hair, marmots, pika, magpie, mountian blue birds, and well over 20 deer).
