Ascent Trip ReportThe Pack summit was the turnaround point on my hike along the Wapack Trail, starting and ending on Old Mountain Road at the trail's north terminus (7.6 miles total). It was cool and windy in the mid 30s today. Good view from Pack Monadnock summit; was able to see the Boston skyline. Fire tower was closed, with a rope blocking the stairs. Hung out in the summit area for 10 minutes, taking a break for food and water, then returned northbound on the Wapack Trail. Icy coating on some branches made for nice scenery. The descent was treacherous in places because of icy trail conditions.
