Ascent Trip ReportI usually try to avoid the drive in options but this time it was actually the best one. As it was trully amazing experience I will write some more words about our trip. We arranged a half day tour with Madi who is almost an Aruban institution. Mother of six and grandmother of seven she is full of vital thouths anf funny ideas. She took us with her 30 years old Willys to the Natural Pool which is one of the best Aruban sights. Then we asked her whether we could go to the Jamanota. As it appeared the road to the Park was closed due to this year's rainfalls and landslides. We tried however and we were able to reach the Cerro Jamanota but I would not recommend it with a rented car. Should someone decide to do it on his own - below I post some directions. Driving from Oranjestad (Aruba's capitol) you should pass the airport in direction St. Nicolaus. Then at the first traffic lights (approx. 4 km from airport) you turn left to Santa Cruz. In SC you turn right at the first crossroad 50 meters after the gas station and McDonald. Then you should follow the Ariki National Park marks but the road gets more and more difficult and muddy. You would recognise the Jamanota as the highest peak with telecommunication instalations on the top. Good luck.
