Ascent Trip Report

This summit is close to downtown Santiago, easily recognised by its large white Madonna statue, and easily ascended by funicular railway.

We bought tickets and took the 5 minute ride to the top station. From here, easy paths and steps ascend the remaining 30m or so to the statue. YDS 1

However, it is apparent on reaching the statue, that the highest natural ground is an outcrop some 50m NE, around the base of a comms mast. The keen peakbagger may therefore wish to scramble over the railings (YDS 3) during a lull in tourist traffic and make sure of the summit.
