Ascent Trip Report

Big day with Jeff, Emily and Pete. Took Pine Bend trial up to the North Pyramid (steep sections with enough snow to make it slippery, but not quite enough to fill in all the rocks) and over Middle and South. We were feeling strong enough to decide to continue across the sleepers - tried to bushwack from South, but too thick to get to the Kate Sleeper trail, so we went across the top of the South Slide and found the Kate sleeper without too much difficulty. Lots of snow made the slide less dangerous then expected - lots of snow let you buttslide slowly and cushioned your stops. Breaking trail across the sleepers was exhausting, but we made it. Whiteface over to Passaconaway was less broken out than expected and we made it to Passaconaway just after dark. The trail up to the peak and out the cutoff and Oliverian brook were well broken out - nice smooth path - easy to follow at the end of a long hard day!
