Ascent Trip Report

Foggy and cold December hike with Nate. No visibility from top, but we were situated above the clouds and fog and could see blue sky. Parked at TH and hiked around dirt trails at base until Fern Flat Fire Road at the Anza Spring. Hiked towards what we thought was another ridge trail - but instead we found ourselves on the Lookout Paved Road. Walked up past the burn out forest from Cedar Fire in 2003, through much fog and cold air to peak. Were very cautious and did NOT separate due to the high number of Mountain Lion incidents and reports. Saw several herds of deer, but nothing else. Found 3 survey markers and had lunch at the top. Descended the same way, as twilight came early because of cloud cover, storm, and wind. Post hike beer at Alpine Brewing Co!
