Ascent Trip Report

A drive-to and a few minutes walk beside a road.

Our GPS girlfriend directed us north on LA24/20 from the Terrebonne County Highpoint area to the town of Thibodaux and street intersection Saint Mary and Jackson, where we turned left on Saint Mary street (LA1).

A) FOUR AREAS ON SOUTH SIDE OF BAYOU
We drove west on LA1 (it parallels the bayou just to the right) for half a mile to a left on Blue lane ..... PB's main Highpoint is in the middle of the Lane at 75 yards between 2 houses, my GPS read 29.79606, 90.83220.
We returned to LA1 and continued west and checked out the other 3 candidates on the south side of the Bayou, a very flat area , however we saw a weird obvious bump that I am choosing as the main Highpoint of this County, at least on this side of the Bayou. I am suggesting that PB remove the other 3 areas and just keep this one.
The bump, located about 400 yards west of White Plantation Road just past a large white sign "ED White Historical Site", is between the road and the Bayou. It is about 20 feet from the road, 10 feet higher in elevation than the road and capped with large trees and vegetation and looks very natural. My GPS coordinates on its summit were 29.82529, 90.91167.

B) SEVEN AREAS ON NORTH SIDE OF BAYOU.
We found our way to the north side of the Bayou and drove west on Bayou Road (LA308) checking/visiting the 7 areas ..... everything is flat and again I am suggesting that PB remove all of these areas as candidates and retain the following 2 areas.
Area 1 ... In the Dixie Plantation Road area, between LA308 and the Bayou, there is a berm-like ridge few hundred yards long and 5-7 feet higher in elevation than its surroundings. I chose a spot as my Highpoint at 100 yards west of Dixie plantation Road with a GPS reading 29.82210, 90.90084.
Area 2 ... There is another berm-like ridge between LA308 and the Bayou west of French Plantation Road (also signed Little Choupic Road). It is about 75 yards long and 5-7 feet higher in elevation than its surroundings. I chose a spot at 350 yards west of French Plantation Road with a GPS reading of 29.82770, 90.91454. A good length of this berm at its south end has been removed/excavated flat. All of these berms have dense vegetation.

Based on my visit I concluded that this County should have 3 only candidates. Perhaps a future Highpointer who has the tools/ability to measure exact elevation can reduce the list to only one.
From here we drove/overnighted at a truck stop Casino, in Schreiver, at 20/24.
