Ascent of Crestone Peak on 2007-09-09| Others in Party: | Trisha Conlon | | Date: | Sunday, September 9, 2007 | | Ascent Type: | Successful Summit Attained | | Peak: | Crestone Peak | | Location: | USA-Colorado | | Elevation: | 14294 ft / 4356 m |
Ascent Trip ReportClimbed the standard Red Couloir route, starting from the "middle" TH, about halfway up the S. Colony Lakes Rd. (~9900 ft.) A 13+ hour day, starting at 5 am MDT, and most of it socked in, but well worth it. The couloir is long, and challenging in places, but the route is well cairned, right to the top. Dynamite little summit. Bagged E. Crestone, too. Got rained and hailed on late in the day, fortunately after getting down off Broken Hand Pass.
