Ascent Trip ReportTons of fresh snow after the blizzard - Jeff, Emily, and I knew we had lots of trail breaking to do, but headed out for Tom, Field Willey anyways. After slogging through thigh deep snow just between the Highland Center and trailhead, we thought we were in for trouble, but were pleasantly surprised to find the first mile or two already broken out. We caught up with a large group about a mile from Tom and took turns breaking trail and route finding. Made it up there for spectacular views - but it was COLD. Kept moving to Field - breaking trail the whole way - just with the 2 strongest trailbreakers - Greg and Bill. Made it to Field in decent time but legs were too spent and not enough daylight to get Willey. Trailbreaking down from Field past Avalon was also surprisingly hard - such deep deep snow! A good, cold, windy, snowy day to be out. but it was fun!
