Ascent Trip ReportI returnd to Japan from the U.S. for winter vacation and to celebrate new year's day with my parents in Japan. I decided to hike near-by mountain while I am in Japan. I picked up Mt Atago in Kyoto. I went to Arashi-yama station by train from Osaka. I started to hike from this station instead of taking bus to trailhead.
There are several trails which I can pick up. I decided to stop by Kuhya-no-taki (Kuhya waterfalls) and Tsukinowa-tera (=Tsukinowa temple) before I reached to Mt Atago summit. At the summit, there is Atago Shrine. Hike in from Arashiyama-sta took 3.5 hours and hike out took 2 hours + bus. It was very nice weather. Very less snow on the trail.
