Ascent Trip ReportClimbing Mount Lola was a last minute decision, as I set off into the wilderness without too much of a plan. With the help of this site, and the Forest Service office at Truckee, this seemed like a perfect overnight backpacking trip. The forest service rates the hike from the trailhead off of Road 301 as "most difficult." It wasn't that hard at all, and it is spoiled because it parallels a road for at least 1.5 miles. It's pretty rough on my mind, at least, to be lugging a backpack to get into the wilderness, and then to have ATV's driving by. At mile 3.5 I came across the road again and found people car-camping. The total distance from the trailhead is five miles, one-way. I would recommend making this a short half-day hike, either from the trailhead, or better yet from the last road crossing almost exactly 1.5 miles due south of the peak. Beautiful view, and a cool sign...
