Ascent Trip Report4-5" of snow last night over a VERY icy trail.
Left a bit late this morning, heading up Halfway House Trail to connect with (and summit by) White Arrow Trail.
About a 3rd of the way up White Arrow however, one of my crampons broke...a Yaktrax XTR, at the chain.
Conditions being what they were, I decided to turn back after a 5 minute deliberation...just too icy. Plus, the ice was covered with snow, so you could never tell what you were standing on.
Disappointing. It was a gorgeous day to hike. Perfect conditions.
