Ascent of Peak 2900 on 2010-12-22| Date: | Wednesday, December 22, 2010 | | Ascent Type: | Successful Summit Attained | | Peak: | Peak 2900 | | Location: | USA-Oregon | | Elevation: | 2900 ft / 883 m |
Ascent Trip ReportI approached peak 2900 from hwy 238 and Ferris Gulch Road. I drove up Ferris Gulch Road, hitting snow at about 2,500 ft and then continued to a little saddle at about 2,900 ft next to Peak 3507. There is a driveable BLM road that goes over to Star Mine, but the road had about 4" of snow on it and I didn't want to go any further and chance getting stuck. I hiked an old logging road east along the ridge and then it ended at the nicer road going to Star Mine. I stayed on this road to the base of Peak 2900 where I found another old logging road going steeply up the slope to the summit. I had no views because the summit was hidden in low clouds. Nice little hike.
