Ascent Trip Report

The road (FR 626) is in remarkably good condition - I could have driven my Civic all the way to the gate less than a mile from, and only a few hundred feet below the summit, but I wanted some exercise, so I walked from about 5050'. Unfortunately, the lookout tower was locked. They even had a gate blocking the stairs, but since the hike was only class 1 to that point, I enjoyed the class 3 challenge climbing around the gate. That said, the wind above the summit was harsh - almost enough to make me regret the extra climb, but the views were rewarding enough to make up for it.
