Ascent Trip ReportFrom Somes Bar on CA 96 go a short distance east on Salmon River Rd to Camp Three Rd; left on Camp Three Rd (FSR 15N17) and uphill 6.4 miles on narrow paved road to Offield Saddle. From here a dirt road, rocky in places, ascends about 1,300' in 1.5 miles to the level summit area where Offield Mountain L.O. was once located. The summit offers an extensive panorama up and down the Klamath River and across to the Siskiyou Wilderness, with Preston Peak a standout to the north. A high-clearance vehicle can drive from the saddle to the top, but I elected to walk to avoid the rocky stretch and undue tire wear.
