Ascent Trip Report

w Monica and the randomites. The original plan was ambitious - a little too ambitious. The climb to White Cap involved unmaintained paths and bushwhacks but we found the sign with few problems. The full bushwhack route we chose from White Cap to Monument Peak turned out to be incredibly thick with spruce trees and blowdowns which slowed us down considerably. Even though the sun and heat along the fully exposed boundary swath slowed us down, it was my ankle injury on the way up to Boundary Peak that caused us to turn around before reaching our predetermined turn-around time or getting to the summit. We picked a better line on the way back to White Cap and and made good time as we avoided much of the thick stuff. When we weren't able to easily locate the start of the bushwhack to Kennebago Divide we decided that it was getting late and the mountain would be there again tomorrow so we headed out. Thanks to the group for showing the "team spirit" that makes the Random Group great by turning around when we did.
