Ascent Trip Report

What a great hike - just the perfect amount of distance (~8 miles) and elevation gain (~1,800 feet) for a Sunday. The trail was lush with green vegetation everywhere and was very well maintained with plenty of switchbacks which made for a steady, consistent climb. Although the summit is wooded the 55' foot high fire tower provided a great place to have lunch and look out over the surrounding area as the clouds burned off. Had a chance to talk with AT and Long Trail thru-hikers too. The rain that was coming down before the hike stopped before we left the trailhead and never another drop fell. The sun came out and the temperature was perfect. Too bad people switched their plans because of the weather (we were camping nearby so had nothing to lose by waiting out the storm) but we will be back here again.
