Ascent Trip Report

with the randomites. Our original plans to get Middle, South, and the Dome were modified the night before the hike because hadn't heard of anyone getting to Middle since the recent storm dumped snow and wrecked the trees. We started later with the reduced itinerary - Nineteen Mile Brook Trail and the Carter Dome Trail were well taken care of up to South Carter (thanks Bob and Jeff). Made good time - and then we saw that others had (at least tried) gone to Middle so we figured we would give it a try - we would either make it or simply turtn around when the trail got impassable. No problems - got Middle and then when we got back to Zeta Pass we said goodbye to those not staying at the Hut and Monica, Emily, Cosmin, and I went over the Dome down to the Hut. The trail down from the Dome was like trying to squeeze through a dozen cristmas trees tied together - and this went on for about half a mile. A number of other groups had to turn back before reaching the summit. Great dinner at the Hut!
