Ascent Trip Report

Climbed along with Cornell. Arrived at trailhead at 1147 hr and started hike at 1210 hr. Some ladders in place to get over the sandstone ledges that are common in the Catskills. At 1326 hr. reached the sign that said 1.3 miles to the summit (2.6 miles completed), and by 1403 hrs. at another sign that indicated we crossed the 3500' contour. Finally at 1420 hr. reached the summit of Wittenberg with good views to the south (Ashokan Resevior) from the open ledges. Left the somewhat crowded summit fo Wittenberg at 1433 hr.s and by 1459 hrs. arrievd at the summit fo Cornell. Left Cornell at 1518 hrs. (0.8 miles between summits) and was back at Wittenberg's summit by 1543 hr. taking some photos along the way. Fainlly got back to Woodland CG (trailhead) at 1803 hr. Total of 3,090' vertical feet on the way because we doubled backed over Wittenberg. Somewhat dissapointing that there were no views of Slide from the trail.
