Ascent Trip ReportToughest day hike of my life - below sea level to over 10,000 ft. Missed the summit because as I gained the ridge in below freezing temperatures after walking up 10,000 vertical feet in 12 hours I just ran out of energy. The choice was either hike another 5 miles to the car or hike 1.5 miles up to the peak followed by 6.5 miles to the car. I ended up doing the 5 miles to the car - barely. I practically crawled to the trailhead - rough day...
Started at 5am and got to the car at 8pm. Christine and Matt made the summit and were at the car about an hour and a half behind me. We only ran into 2 guys coming off the summit right as we hit the ridgeline around 10,000 ft. They graciously took a picture of all 3 of us.
