Ascent Trip ReportArrived at the trailhead at 1:48 pm on beautiful clear, windless spring day (65-70 degrees). Started hiking at 1:55 hours and reached the Batavia Kill lean-to at 2:25 hrs. By 3:08 I had arrived at the summit of Blackhead and by 3:55 pm at the summit of Black Dome, the high point in the range. Saw a porcupine in the col between the two peaks. At 4:15 pm I arrived at the summit of Thomas Cole and departed that summit at 4:24 pm. Good views prevailed on some of the rock ledges that looked south from the summit ridge. At 4:47 pm I was back at the lookout on Black Dome and ate some dinner leaving the lookout at 5:09 pm. By 5:28 pm I arrived back at the col between BD and BH. I arrived back at my car at 6:15 pm. Mileage was as follows: 1.7 miles to trailhead (Big Hollow Rd) from col between BD and BH. Another .6 miles to BD summit from col; 1.4 miles to Thomas Cole from col.
