Ascent Trip Report

I approached Buck Point from Hwy 66. I parked along the highway at a wide spot and hiked up the south side of Buck Point. This is open country that is grass and oak trees. I could see the high point from Hwy 66 so route finding was not an issue. As I neared the high point, I could see it was a rocky outcropping. There is lots of poison oak near the summit also. In order to avoid most of the poison oak I climbed the volcanic summit rocks up about 30 ft that I would consider to be Class 3. Coming down I found a Class 2 route and dealt with the poison oak. Great views from the summit and also during the climb. I could see my truck from the summit.
