Ascent Trip ReportI approached Ogden Hill from the PCT. I drove up I-5 and exited at the Mt Ashland Ski Area exit. I drove a short distance towards the Mt Ashland Ski Road to where the PCT crosses the road. I parked here and hiked south on the PCT. In about 1.25 miles the PCT crosses a gravel road that goes steeply up hill to the right. I followed the road up until it flattened a little on the east side of Ogden Hill. Elevation here was just over 5,400 ft so I left the road and hiked cross country towards the summit up a grassy slope. When I got close to the high point, I could see that the high point was covered with thick brush. I hiked around to the right until I got on the ridge and then followed the ridge into the brush to the high point. The summit is kind of flat, so I beat around in the brush for a while looking for a distinctive rock outcropping that would serve as the high point. I couldn't find anything distinctive. There are great views in places hiking up the PCT and also from the road.
