Ascent of Granite Peak on 2005-07-23
|Others in Party:||Paul Obert
|Date:||Saturday, July 23, 2005|
|Ascent Type:||Successful Summit Attained|
| Elevation:||12799 ft / 3901 m|
Ascent Trip ReportThe weather was good the first day, good on the second, and all hell broke loose in the sky on the third night. We were camping at Avalanche Lake the night after the summit and were hit with 80+ mph winds, lightning within 50 yards, and torrential rains. The rest of the trip was downpours with temperatures in the 30s and 40s. This mountain, in my opinion, has been my hardest high point.
