Ascent Trip ReportAMC Catskill backpacking weekend lead by Al Tatyrek. Registered together with Caroline.
Started hiking on Saturday 26th, gorgeous weather and nice scenery, camped by a stream.
Sunday was not so easy. A bushwhacking along so-called "old army track" lead to no where and got totally lost. Crossed streams so many times unnecessarily and in one occasion slipped over a rock and hit my chest really hard (subsequently I had to visit ER for the chest pain).
By the time we found the trail and reached the foot of the Slide, it was already early evening and thunderstorm struck, pouring down with rain. We had to pitch our tents and stay another night unexpectedly. View of lightenings through tent was scary but quite fascinating.
Some people could not be late for work on Monday, so took a risk to climb up the Slide in the dark during the thunderstorm.
Monday, storm has left and was a gorgeous weather. Climbing up the Slide was very pleasant with rewarding views at the top.
