Ascent Trip Report

We backpacked to hike up Isolation, NH over the weekend of 11th-12th August.
Mt. Isolation (4003 feet) is one of the "four-thousand footers" of New Hampshire in the White Mountain Area. There are 4000-footers list for New Hampshire, Vermont and Maine, and apparently there are a total of 48 peaks in the New Hampshire list.

Well, I am not EXACTLY an ambitious one to hike up all the 4000-footers on the list - but if one's hiking friends are SUCH KIND, you end up hiking quite a few of them anyway - I seem to have hiked up about 10 already so far...

We met up with the others at 9AM on Saturday morning at the Rocky Branch trailhead.
It has been quite a bit of a strenuous work to backpack in an extremely gorgeous weather. It has been awhile for me to hike with my backpack on my back. Since I have been only day hiking for some time, I guess my stamina has decreased. My pace was like a tortoise plodding along a muddy trail...
I was SOoooo glad to leave my backpack at the shelter, where we decided to stay a night, on the way to the peak.

This peak was the last of 48 for a couple of friends in the group this time - so congratulations to both!! Of course we toasted at the summit!
We also met hikers with an adorable canine hiking mate at the summit.
