Ascent to top of Columbine Canyon in 2009-06

Climber: Richard Oestreicher

Date:June, 2009
Ascent Type:No Summit Goal
Place: top of Columbine Canyon
    Elevation:3413 m / 11200 ft

Ascent Trip Report

Started at Columbine canyon campground between Questa and Red River, New Mexico, passing the two side trails that go up to Gold Hill (my usual routes) just before and after 2 miles. The trail follows Columbine Creek upward going by a long series of rapids and small waterfalls and eventually crossing over the now small creek. From there the trail starts to become less distinct eventually petering out (or least I couldn't find it on the other side) in a high meadow.
