Ascent of Highland Peak on 2010-09-17| Date: | Friday, September 17, 2010 | | Ascent Type: | Successful Summit Attained | | Peak: | Highland Peak | | Location: | USA-California | | Elevation: | 10936 ft / 3333 m |
Ascent Trip ReportI hiked Highland Peak from Ebbetts Pass on Hwy 4. I hiked south on the PCT as it lost about 700 ft before climbing back up to Noble Lake. At Noble Lake I found a small trail leading to the unnamed lake just east of Noble Lake. From here the trail is hard to find, so I wandered east up to the rocky bluffs and then up to the saddle south west of Highland and southwest of Peak 10824. Here I found a climber's trail that I could follow most of the way up to Peak 10824. I dropped down to the P10824/Highland saddle and then climbed up to Highland Peak. The climber's trail was hard to follow in this section, but the route was obvious. Great views from the summit. Great hike and I saw no other hikers the entire day.
