Ascent Trip ReportI parked at the most westerly parking lot for the PCT at Carson Pass on Hwy 88. I hiked north on the PCT for about a mile to a small lake and then turned right and hiked up the southwest ridge of Red Lake Peak. Easy hiking mostly through wildflowers, grasses, and short sage. The high point summit of Red Lake is difficult to see when you get up to the rocky summit. I climbed the south side first and saw that the north rocky block was higher. I hiked all the way to the north ridge of Red Lake, then came back about 100 ft to an obvious ascent route on the east side. This is easy Class 3 and goes up to the north ridge where I crossed over to the west side and followed a ledge south to the south ridge. Again I crossed the ridge back tot he east side and followed a ramp up to the summit. After signing the register I hurried off to Stevens Peak to the north. It was getting late in the afternoon. All hiking stats are included in the totals for this TR. Great views.
