Ascent Trip ReportLate start. we backpacked out the last few miles from our Thompson Peak ascent, and had to drive to this trailhead. We started at the Boulder Creek trailhead and backpacked to just past the Boulder Creek crossing, a short distance before Lower Wright Lake. There were not a lot of great places to camp, as all the best sites were covered with cattle dung. We camped near a salt lick, and the cattle tried to approach that and us in the middle of the night. 4.5 mile hike
Day 2 we summited and returned to the trailhead. We passed by Upper Wright Lake. There is a brief, easy XC class 1-2 walk off trail to the actual summit.
Great Views! Shasta, Thompson peak were most notable.
I'd recommend camping at Lower Wright Lake if you do it as an overnight.
