Ascent Trip Report**Private Solo Hike
(started off with another individual who turned back within the 1st hour after becoming sick)
Stats: 11 miles RT, +5,800' via the East Ridge. To get to the start of the East Ridge (@Russell-Carillon saddle), I took the normal scree slope route from Clyde's Meadow. Next time, I'll try the Rockwell Variation.
Time Start: 4:08 AM
Time Summit: 11:24 AM (7 hr 16 min from start)
Time End: 5:04 PM (total time = 12 hr 56 min)
1. The East Ridge is class 3 (very exposed in places) and is a true Sierra classic. A definite must-do!!!
2. Time-wise, not my longest hike, but definitely THE hardest dayhike I've ever done.
3. Probably could have had better performance had I not done Thor Peak (12,306'; 8 miles RT, +3,950') the day before. Also, didn't get much sleep the night before!!
