Ascent Trip ReportIncredible hike with Mike S and Bob M. No views due to weather, but great gradual hike up Marcy from Heart Lake. Since the climb is so gradual and the path so well maintained, we made good time. Due to low visibility we had trouble finding the cairns and yellow paint heading down the south side to four corners, so we stumbled around on the south side for about 30 mins, losing a few hundred feet then having to re-climb to find the cairns. The wind was so fierce, that at times when you lifted your feet, they landed in a different spot you intended! Was downright scary at times!! Rain and light hail set in as we approached treeline toward four corners. When filling up my camelbak at the last stream crossing toward the summit, someone mentioned that so many people discard human ashes on the summit that there are trace amounts in the upper streams. Very gross, not sure if thats folk lore or what but something to think about ;)
