Ascent Trip Report

Bushwhacking in the summertime just isn't a good idea. The slopes are rather steep, which are to be expected, but the briers were not expected. I tried heading up the south slope. It was somewhat bearable until I got most of the elevation gain done. Then, once on the 'summit ridge' it was a sea of briers. I had on shorts and decided I had had enough, so I turned back. I'll likely try this summit again in the winter or early spring and I'll wear pants this time. Also, I think I'll try another route. From the Pink Beds Overlook on the BRP, I'll walk south on the BRP for a ways and then I'll try to head northwest up the slope to the saddle between Fryingpan and Beech, then head west southwest across the ridge to the summit.
