Ascent of Steens Mountain-North Peak on 2010-09-06| Date: | Monday, September 6, 2010 | | Ascent Type: | Successful Summit Attained | | Peak: | Steens Mountain-North Peak | | Location: | USA-Oregon | | Elevation: | 9348 ft / 2849 m |
Ascent Trip ReportHiked along the ridgeline from viewpoint. Frigid in the morning, nice by noon. 5.5 hours roundtrip.
I was hiking in the wallowas the previous day and hurt my knee descending off of hurricane divide so that put the kibosh on my planned ascent of Elkhorn Peak. I knew Kigermann would be a nice easy going ridgewalk so I drove to the other corner of Oregon to do some hiking down in this area. Watched a great sunset from the Steens Central Viewpoint and camped at Fish Lake.
