Ascent Trip Report

After summitting Grays Peak - we busted up Torreys. Daniel did real well summitting Grays but the second peak took its toll. I wanted to stay and take pictures at the top of this peak and he wanted down as he was starting antoher bout with AMS. We took great pics but then he headed down to the saddle to rest while i soaked it up for a few more minutes. Far less people on this peak than Gray. The ragged edges of this peak is more interesting that Gray and the buttress off of Kelso Mountain is a fun looking class 3 scramble that few attemtped and most wore protective hard hats. Note to self - do that route some time looks like fun!

On way down we descended from the Gray-Torrey saddle and by then everyone and their grandmother was heading up Grays Peak. I have never seen so many people on a 14er before in my life! and dogs! This is no trip for solitude seekers!...but still as with all 14ers worth doing.

Note: Extra grade was the slight upclimb from the true saddle between the two peaks to get to the alternate descent route off Torreys and then the extra climbing to get back to Camp #2 and pack up to backpack down to our car.
