Ascent Trip Report

The trailhead for the Gavilan Canyon is on the road to the Taos Ski Valley, about a mile before the ski valley. It is well-marked although there is little parking except along the roadside.

A steep trail, ascending about 2300 feet in just a little over two miles,it rewards the hiker with magnificent view from the ridge line. I recommend heading a few hundred yards up (east) from the ridgeline for the best views.
