Ascent Trip Report

Great day for a hike. Clear skies and great views, though there was some haze and it was hot.

Jeff and I hiked from Livermore trail, then up the North slide to North Tripyramid and across the Middle and South. North slide was fun and had gorgeous views! Had a little trouble finding the Kate Sleeper trail - it's near the top of the South Slide - but you do have to descend a bit and stay to the left side to see it. The Kate sleeper trail was great - clear, smooth and open - perfect for trail running. Got the 2 sleepers and then made it to the Whiteface/Passaconaway loop. A few nice view points over here - and an especially nice snack stop on the top of Passaconaway. Then descended and took longer route over square ledge - interesting mountain, rocky and sheer cliffs - but limited view points. Sprained ankle badly on the way out - near mile 16 or 17. "Iced" in river and Jeff taped it up and I could hobble my way out. Oliverian brook trail on way out was flat, smooth and open - couldn't have asked for an easier route to "limp" out....
