Ascent Trip Report

I made this summit on day 3 of a 3 day backpacking trip from Tuolumne Meadows down to the Valley. We stayed at Little Yosemite Valley campground and started our hike to the summit around 6am. Very few people there but was starting to get crowded as I was coming down. It was pretty steep going up the cables but I never slipped. I practically had the cables to myself going up...only a handful of people were on their way down. Coming down the cables was easy. I did it forwards (some people think it's easier backing down) and had excellent traction while using my hands on the cables as brakes. I'm glad I did this hike, but as others say, there are better views elsewhere.
