Ascent Trip ReportTrip to summit was from the Weatherford trailhead--the long route. Trip went fine, the weather was great. Even took the time to make the short climb down to an old abandoned vehicle that we'd seen on previous trip. But, if truth be told, the trail is really in pitiful shape. You don't see as much of the scenery as you'd like because you are concentrating on nearly every step on the way down for fear of stumbling on the fist size rocks that make up the trail. We came across a woman who got a substantial gash in her forehead from tripping. If one is interested in climbing the tallest peak in Arizona, hike it from the well-traveled trail on the Snow Bowl side. If you are interested in a longer training hike, as we were, there are much better choices than the Weatherford trail.
