Ascent Trip ReportReturned to junction of the Wilmington Trail from Esther. Made our way swiftly up the mountain. Crossed the ski trails, stopping to take a look at the chairlifts. Made it to where the trail meets the highway, only to jab a tree root into my thigh. Slowly trudged the last .5 miles before finally making it to the top. Cleaned and bandaged my wound, took some pictures, and avoided the swarm of tourists. Then we had the bright idea of walking the highway back to Wilmington. BAD IDEA! I've been hiking all summer, and this was the sorest I'd been the whole year. Don't have any plans to return to Whiteface anytime again!
