Ascent Trip ReportClimbed Esther mountain from the reservoir. Trail was very sandy and dry due to recent lack of rain. Ascent angle increased dramatically as we continued, hampered by loose, sandy footing. The herd path is marked at it's origin by a large rock pile and a small DEC sign. The herd path is narrow, but had seen some recent trimming. Enjoyed lunch at the plaque with a couple well-fed chickadees that seemed to enjoy our company. Took some pictures, then made our way back down to rejoin the trail. A nice hike.
