Ascent Trip Report

After peakbagged Mt Adams first from Apalachia, we stopped by Madison Hut, took off some loads, then, hiked to Mt Madison. It was short hike up from Hut and came back there to stay over night.

We left Appalachia around 10AM after car spotting at AMC Highland Ctr at 9AM. We reached to the Tr Junc of King Ravine at 11:15AM. King Ravine is the trail which requires rock scrambling that is a bit tough for me as short person who has short leg and short arms. A couple of times, I needed to ask one guy to pull me up a bit on large rocks. We kept steady pace and reached to the base of Mt Adams (at Gulfside Tr) at 3PM and reached to the summit of Mt Adams at 3:40PM. Then, hiked out to Madison Hut at 4pm. We took short break and left Hut at 4:30PM, reached to the summit of Mt Madison at 5PM. There was a great view from the summit but pretty chilly out there with strong wind. We all wore wind jacket and I event had gloves. Returned to Hut at 5:30PM to eat dinner at 6PM. It was great weather (windy but cool) and it couldn't be better than that for nice hiking day! All 5 hikers in my group successfully attained to 2 summits as planned.
