Ascent Trip ReportFlew into San Fransico Friday night. Drove up to Whitney Portal Saturday. Camped there Saturday night. Hiked up to Upper Boyscout Lake (where we camped Sunday and Monday nights) and then made an acclimatization forray to Iceberg Lake Sunday. On Monday, ascended Whitney by the Mountaineers Route, then climbed Mt. Muir via a scramble off the Whitney Trail. On Tuesday, ascended the East Ridge route to both summits of Mt. Russell, descended to the saddle and then climbed Mt. Carillon. Descended to the car at Whitney Portal Tuesday afternoon, then camped by a river near Bishop Tuesday night. Was hot when we tried to get to sleep. Had a "rest" day on Wednesday by cragging in 100 degree weather in the Owens River Gorge. Drove up to the locked gate on White Mountain Road and slept in the car on Wednesday night. Ascended and descended White Mountain Peak on Thursday.
