Ascent Trip Report

The next three days of our trip were a backpack in the Pemi. We started from Lincoln Woods. The first stream crossing was a little high so we took off our boots to cross. We dropped our wicked heavy packs and started up the Owl’s Head Slide. I loved the views of the Lincoln slide. I just kept turning around. There’s lots of loose rock but it was a fun trail. We found the “true” summit before making our way down. We bumped into a ranger on the way to the slide who had an ax and said he had cleared up some confusing spots on the Lincoln Brook Trail north of the slide. However, it’s still a little hard to follow in spots, overgrown, muddy and wet. There’s lots of moose crap too. We found our way through the confusion and camped at 13 Falls. We set up our tents and I tried the garlic potatoes that Anne had put together for me. Thanks Anne! And thanks to Kelly, as I think that recipe was from you. Fantastic stuff!

I’m surprised at how much I enjoyed my second visit to Owl’s Head. I still have to go back a third time for Anne.
