Ascent Trip ReportThe first trip while staying at one of the canvas cabins at the Adirondack Loj, we arrived at the trailhead at Route 73 shortly after 9:00. The eight of us (Huss Family, Sacco Family, Sandra, Sarah) set out as the light rain ceased, but the humidity remained. We remained as a group for the most part, and took a lunch break at an outlook about a half mile below the summit before continuing. As we neared the summit of Cascade, the clouds began to break, and we met a steady wind. Views were somewhat limited, but still rewarding. After spending about a half hour on Cascade, our group began the descent. Sarah, Mr Huss and I split off from the group to hike Porter, where we found even clearer skies. After a short break, the three of us headed back to the Cascade trail. Shortly thereafter, I split off to descend in a run. Reached the bottom shortly after Jim and Sandra, and ahead of the others. A nice warm-up for the next day’s hike, we headed back to the Loj campground around 3:00 pm.
