Ascent Trip Report***Private Hike***
Nice easy dirt road leads from locked gate 2-miles below UC Research Station (just short of 12,000' elevation) to summit of peak. Half the gain is steady and gentle, the last 1,000' of gain on switchbacks over the final 1.5 miles. Elevation was a problem for 3 of 5 climbers; all but one made summit.
Camped at "Grandview Campground (8,500')" the night before hike to acclimitize. Nice campground, no water, well maintained pit toilets. $5 per night donation requested. Excellent spot for star gazing.
