Ascent Trip ReportHeaded up from the Alder Lake PA. Lots of bear scat in the road on the way up. Hiked around the North side of the lake and up to the Beaver Meadow lean-to. Nettles everywhere but not closed in to the trail too bad. Tons around the spring. Lots of entries in the journal about bears stealing food. Further up there were old bear scats full of styrofoam so I believe them. Spotted one bear near the Beecher Lake overlook, followed by sighting a large group of kids with two guides at the overlook itself. One girl was wearing cool pink and teal argyle socks. Nothing else interesting on the way except more bear sign. Stopped by the tower for lunch and hung out for a while.
On the way back around the lake there was a bear in the bushes keeping an eye on some clueless campers. They said they'd hang their food by a very short tangled piece of rope. The bears probably came for it that night.
